Wow, not blogging for a year leaves a huge backlog of stuff to blog about… Last year I spent a weekend in Philly with some of my fav gal pals. What did we do all weekend? Well we ate, and then we chowed down, then we noshed, and then we dined, and then we munched, and then we ate some more. Oh yeah this is how we roll. First stop was Hot Diggity, per a recommendation from a high school friend. They had a wide variety of options, and since it was a year ago I can remember what we got but I’d go again.
Next up was Pat’s and Geno’s!!
Geno’s was flashier but Pat’s took the win here. We enjoyed the bread and it had a slight edge in the flavor category. I also watched as the guy in front of me got chewed out for not having his cash ready. Tips that will save you from being sent to the end of the line: have cash, know what you want wid or widout whiz, mushrooms, or onions, and speak up so the cashier can hear ya.
The next day we started at Reading Terminal Market – pronounced Redding Terminal I have no idea why.
And of course we tried everything in the house, well not really seriously we hardly made a dent and we ate a lot.
Reading Market is where you can find over 100 vendors selling fresh food, prepared food, and non-food items but what we were there to do was eat, I think I mentioned that yeah? I love this place, I could’ve spent the entire day here taking in the sights and smells of the busy market and sampling every single vendor. For this trip, my favorite place was Smucker’s.
I had the pot roast sandwich. Tender, beefy, scrum-didlyumptious pot roast. Delicious is an understatement.
And for second dessert (after the cookies, ice cream, and crepes) we had macarons at Miel Patisserie. The salted caramel rocked my socks.
For dinner we had chicken at Ms Tootsies, tasty soul food. The wait was about an hour but well worth it.
And before we headed home from a weekend of eating, we went to Dim Sum Garden.
So there you have it. My Philly weekend of eating. Crazy amount of food yeah? Well I went again this year outdid this trip in terms of places in a day. Oh yeah it happened.
*HUGE thanks to V who hosted us at her pad in Philly. And props to T and C for researching all these fabulous places to eat.
I thought this was our trip. 😦
